Went and saw the English sensation Andy Moor (on the eve of Canada's day no less) last night at Shine. Mr. Moor gets 2 thumbs up in my book. Opened with Dakota - Johnny The Fox (Barnes & Heatcliff) which was enough to make my night. Knew how to throw it down hard in what was, to be perfectly honest, a terrible venue. #1: they closed at 2am. That is pathetic. Andy was laughing at them when they told him to get off. The club was laughing. 2am is laughable. Were my grandmother still alive, she would probably not even be in bed by 2. He was only just heating up and then they kick him off. Bollocks. The guy opening (who looked like he should have been spinning at a Flava Flav bday party) got on the mic and said they were getting Gareth Emery later in the summer, but lets be realistic. Gareth can play wherever he wants. Andy Moor is going to phone him and tell him Shine shuts down earlier than a Dunbar dance, and he's going to then reconsider coming at all, or just have a shitty expectation. Get on the phone to city hall and get a license to stay open all night, and stop serving liquor at 2. And get rid of the fucking disco balls, and the completely pointless pot lights at the front of the DJ booth. A dance club should be so dark I can't see my hand 2 inches in front of me. You can't do anything about the size of the place, and the sound system was good, but just darken it up, get rid of the chintz, and it would make it a lot better.
Enough complaining. I've got Ferry Corsten on Friday to look forward to, so hopefully that will overshadow some of the shortcomings. Therefore, this calls for nothing else than fast paced, frantic dance music to keep the body moving. Enjoy.
I believe this guy is an Anjuna product, so if you like Above & Beyond, you will love this.
Robert Nickson - Circles (Original Mix)
Escape to the escape. Fast paced melodic trance with a huge beat drop. Brilliant.
Pawl Meller - Escape (Original Mix)
My favorite off John O'Callaghans new album "Never Fade Away". I heard Gareth Emery describe a track as "atmospheric", and despite that sounding lame and pretentious, it actually describes this track beautifully. I believe it was one of Armins fav's as well....I wonder who copied who....?
John O'Callaghan - Megalithic
Another Anjuna product. Fantastic progressive trance; very upbeat.
Jaytech - Metro (Original Mix)
Same style as "Escape". Fast, hard trance. Keep dancing!
Ingsha - Niavara (Manuel Le Saux Remix)
